Khasi Student Union concerned over second wave of corona outbreak

SHILLONG: The Khasi Student Union (KSU) New Delhi has urged the government of Meghalaya to take suggestive measures to detect and prevent the second wave outbreak of COVID-19 in the State.

In this connection, the union in a joint letter by Wallamkupar Nongsiej and Marbiang Khongwir, leaders of the KSU, sent a letter to the Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma.

"The Union would like to request your esteemed office to look into this matter as we are at a green stage of preventing the new cases of COVID 19 and the cautious suggestive measures by the Union is to prevent second wave of the outbreak of COVID-19 in the State," they said.

On health check at entry points, the union leaders said, "We would like to bring to your attention regarding the propose usage of rapid diagnostic test for COVID-19 at entry points."

They apprised the CM that it is used only to assess the true prevalence of disease for epidemiological purpose and not as a first line screening test.
