Shillong: The Khasi Students Union (KSU) on Tuesday asked the State Government to correct the proposed appointment of the next Chief Secretary of the State.
A day after the government issued a notification that MS Rao (1987 batch) will succeed PS Thankhiew as the next Chief Secretary of the State, Hector Marwein (1985 batch) has expressed his disappointment for the supersession. The KSU in its reaction to the latest developments issued a release, asking the government “to correct the wrong”.
“What we see, is that Hector Marwein deserved to be the Chief Secretary of the State by virtue of being the senior-most serving bureaucrat. Such a precedence of deprivation will affect the system of governance in the future,” the KSU release stated.
Terming the supersession as a breach of conventional practices, the KSU asked the government to appoint Marwein as the Chief Secretary. Marwein who is presently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary of the State.
