SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Congress, on Wednesday, lashed out at the Meghalya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government on two counts: the alleged "mismanagement" of the Meghalya Electricty Corporation Limited (MeECL) and the alleged "misplaced tackling" of the COVID-19 in the State.

On the MeCL issue, State Congress spokesperson and secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), Zenith Sangma alleged, "There was a junior officer as the Chairman and Managing Director (CMD); and now that person has been replaced by another junior officer."He added, "The junior officer has been appointed to act at the behest of the political leaders." On the COVID-19 issue in the State, Sangma said, "The government has failed to deal with the rising COVID cases. There has not been any proactive measures to coordinate on ways to deal with the crisis", adding, "You can very well imagine the situation when ambulances have to be called from Golapara (in Assam) to transport patients from Tura to Shillong."
