Shillong: The Meghalaya Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has demanded the resignation of the state Chief Minister Conrad Sangma over his alleged involvement in corruption.
The demand for the same comes in the aftermath of the collapse of the recently contructed dome which was collapsed on Sunday in New Shillong Township.
Interestingly, the BJP is a constituent of the NPP-led MDA government in Meghalaya.
''Since Sangma has been unsuccessful in dealing with corruption, he should resign as chief minister of the state,'' media reports quoted Meghalaya BJP vice president Bernard Marak as saying.
He further asserted that the saffron party him as the chief minister of Meghalaya considering good governance and all-around development of the state with zero corruption.
''Everyone is disappointed as the poor remained poor and weak vanished and also youths of the state are don't have jobs in their hand,'' he added.
Marak urged the central leaders to step in and analyze and work for the progress of the central schemes to penetrate the state instead of being late.
"BJP has provided enormous bucks for the development of the place but mostly it was taken for granted by their contractors and business partners while the laymen as a whole were left high and dry. BJP did not want the state to sink in debt,'' he added.
In his term, the State has witnessed the worst political and social scenario which has left every citizen disappointed one way or the other," Marak alleged.
He further states that the CBI investigation is necessary to look into the problems and in the ongoing coal and power scam this new sensational news came up.
