SHILLONG: Advisor to the Chief Minister of Meghalaya and local MLA and MDC, Lambor Malngiang on Thursday inaugurated a 2-km (Phase-1, Length= 1.50 km) internal road at Urmasi-U-Joh village in the East Khasi Hills district at a function held at the Community Hall.
The road was constructed under the RIDF-XXV for the year 2019-2020.
Addressing the gathering, Lambor Malngiang stated that is a historic moment for the people of the village. All this while the villagers were on the receiving end due to bad road connectivity, but with the inauguration of this new road there will be renewed hope among the people.
Thanking the residents for their cooperation from the initial stages till the completion of the project, he said that it is a collective responsibility which in the long run not only proves beneficial to the village but also to the general public as a whole.
He also informed that the completion of the road was delayed by two years due to the Covid - 19 pandemic, but thanked the contractors for their efforts in completing the road project at the earliest.
