Meghalaya Corona death toll rises to 135

Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded another COVID-19 death taking the total number of fatalities to 135 while the number of recovered cases out numbered the fresh ones

SHILLONG: Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded another COVID-19 death taking the total number of fatalities to 135 while the number of recovered cases out numbered the fresh ones, informed Director of Health Services, Dr Aman War.

The State recorded 159 recoveries and 29 fresh cases during the last 24 hours. As on date, the State has 12,894 recovered cases. The active cases have come down to 299.

The new casualty has been recorded from East Khasi Hills district. Of the 29 new cases, 24 were recorded in East Khasi Hills, and three in West Garo Hills, besides one each in South West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills.

Of the 159 recovered cases, 112 were recorded in East Khasi Hills (Armed & paramilitary forces: three; civilians: 109); followed by West Jaintia Hills: 40; West Garo Hills: two; and one each from East Jaintia Hills, Ri-Bhoi, South Garo Hills, South West Garo Hills and West Khasi Hills.

Of the 2, 83, 632 samples tested for COVID-19 till date, as many as 2, 70, 304 were declared as negative.

Meanwhile, altogether 75, 651 persons entered Meghalaya till Wednesday.
