Meghalaya Corona Update: 46 patients recover across the state

SHILLONG: While 46 patients have recovered across Meghalaya as on Tuesday, the State has 270 active COVID-19 cases, informed State Director of Health Services (MI) Dr Aman Warr.

Giving the districtwise breakup of the cases, Dr Warr said that of the 236 active cases in East Khasi Hills, 179 are from the Border Security Force (BSF); two each from the Indian Air Force (IAF) and the Assam Rifles; and one is of an Army personnel posted at Rangmen besides those of 52 civilians.

In Ri Bhoi district, there are 19 new cases; nine in West Garo Hills; two each in in East Jaintia Hills and South Garo Hills; and one each in East Garo Hills as well as North Garo Hills.

Meanwhile, of the 24,817 samples have been sent for testing; 24,199 tests are negative and results of 300 others are awaited. Till Tuesday afternoon, 21,837 stranded residents returned to Meghalaya.

Meanwhile Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has informed that the two-day lockdown will end at 5 am on Wednesday morning; and the government does not have any intention to continue with it. Tynsong also said that the lockdown period was used to conduct contact tracing of the 41 persons who had attended the wedding at Khanapara. The Deputy Chief Minister also informed that 198 contacts have been identified.
