SHILLONG: Today, Meghalaya's Ri Bhoi district saw the seizure of five gold biscuits totaling more than Rs 30 lakh. Five suspected gold biscuits were found in the possession of one person, Sahidul Islam, Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Meghalaya, FR, during a check at Umsning intersection as part of upholding the election model code of conduct (MCC). stated Kharkongor.
In front of the magistrate (Assistant Returning Officer- Elections) and impartial witnesses, Binsing Kharphuli of B Kharphuli Jewellers weighed the confiscated goods. The gold that was seized weighs 570 gms altogether and is worth 30 lacks.
After the things had been weighed and measured, they were sealed in the presence of the ARO, witnesses, and Additional SP, Ri Bhoi, and put at Malkhana police station for safekeeping until the office of the DEO Ri Bhoi district could take any further necessary action, the man claimed.
IMFL 9.915 ltrs and country-made illicit liquor of 81.5 ltrs were recovered during vice operations conducted by the Ribhoi district Police on Saturday night in Nongpoh, Wahlakhar, Rajabagan, Mawhati, Byrnihat, Kyrdeng, Umiam Pilangkata, Patharkhmah, and Baridua regions.
