Meghalaya logs 14 more casualties from COVID-19

Meghalaya recorded 14 more COVID-19 fatalities, and 515 fresh infections while 560 infected persons recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours.

SHILLONG: Meghalaya recorded 14 more COVID-19 fatalities, and 515 fresh infections while 560 infected persons recovered from the virus during the last 24 hours.

According to Health authorities of the 14 new casualties, 12 have not been vaccinated. Of the 14 new deaths, East Khasi Hills district recorded eight, Ri-Bhoi district three, West Garo Hills district two and West Jaintia Hills district one.

With the latest figures, the total number of deaths has reached 1,147. There are 5,515 active cases whereas 61,445 persons have recovered from the virus across the State so far.

Of the 515 new cases, 184 were registered East Khasi Hills district followed by 132 in West Khasi Hills; 55 in West Garo Hills; 52 in Ri-Bhoi; 49 in West Jaintia Hills; 13 in South West Khasi Hills; ten each in East Garo Hills district and North Garo Hills; seven in East Jaintia Hills; two in South Garo Hills; and one in South West Garo Hills district.

Meanwhile, the districtwise breakup of the 5,515 active cases is as follows: , East Khasi Hills district (2125); West Khasi Hills district (860); West Garo Hills district (728); Ri-Bhoi district (584); West Jaintia Hills district (548); South West Khasi Hills district (280); East Jaintia Hills district (108); North Garo Hills district (83); East Garo Hills district (75); South Garo Hills district (66); and South West Garo Hills district (58).
