Meghalaya MMA fighter Anthony Syiem to fight at Matrix Fight Night 5 in Dubai

Meghalaya's Anthony Syiem is all set to represent the State in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) at the Matrix Fight Night (MFN) 5 which will be held in Dubai on December 15.

SHILLONG: Meghalaya's Anthony Syiem is all set to represent the State in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) at the Matrix Fight Night (MFN) 5 which will be held in Dubai on December 15.

Syiem has been an active name in the amateur circuit and he noted that he was happy to be a part of MFN while expressing his excitement about the event. He said, "First of all, shout out to MFN for taking care of us in A-class levels the whole team is amazing, what I really feel is a bit excited for the fight and looking for taking him down in the first round."

Although Karan Lama is a tough contender, Syiem is looking forward to bigger things and wants to compete against top contenders in the Lightweight or Featherweight divisions in the near future. "After this fight, I'm really looking for a top contender to hunt out any Lightweight or Featherweight. I'm ready to go anytime without any excuse," he added. Anthony has been preparing for this fight for two months and has been training at Ground and Pound MMA Gym in Meghalaya. He will fight against Karan Lama in a Featherweight division. The fight will take place at 7 pm and will be streamed live on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.

Matrix Fight Night, the home of the Indian MMA, is founded by Bollywood celebrities Tiger Shroff and sister Krishna Shroff and supported by Jackie and Ayesha Shroff. Meanwhile, the Matrix Fight Night made the huge announcement that MFN 6 will also be held in Dubai in 2021. It will then travel to Moscow, Russia for Matrix Fight Night 7 while Matrix Fight Night 8 will be held in London, United Kingdom. The team shall make its return to India with Matrix Fight Night 9 with the event planned to be held in Ludhiana. This will be the first MFN event in India after Matrix Fight Night 3 which was held at the Worli NSCI Dome in Mumbai on December 20, 2019. (Agencies)
