Meghalaya: NPP Workers Withdrawing Funds For 'Ghost Projects', Claims BJP Leader

The NPP workers have taken Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma and MP Agatha Sangma for a ride by allegedly siphoning funds in the name of such projects.

Shillong: BJP leader and Tura MDC, Bernard N Marak has alleged that workers of the National People's Party (NPP) extracting huge funds for non-existential "Ghost projects".

He claimed that the NPP workers have taken Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma and MP Agatha Sangma for a ride by allegedly siphoning funds in the name of such projects.

''Misuse of public money continues as more ghost projects emerged through RTIs in Chief Minister's South Tura constituency and Agatha Sangma's hometown Tura,'' he said in a statement.

According to him, they are extracting huge amounts from the MPLADS and SUWP funds for these projects which are non-existent.

The Meghalaya BJP leader also added that among the many projects which have been shown completed in government files, including a particular graveyard shed in his locality which had been constructed by the public, was used by the party workers to withdraw sanctions under two different government schemes.

''The sanctions were made for the same shed under one name but in reality, it was constructed by the public through general contribution and not by MPLADS or SUWP,'' he added.
