SHILLONG: On June 22, the PA Sangma stadium complex's perimeter retaining wall partially collapsed because of the nonstop rain. After the incident, there were no reports of casualties. Heavy rains that have been battering Tura and the West Garo Hills region have been blamed as the primary cause of the collapse's significant damage.

The route is now being cleared by having the mud and debris removed. By the early half of Friday, the route will be open for travel after being blocked off. There is an alternative route that can be taken. To prevent any unfortunate accidents, the remaining portion of the retaining wall will also be taken down.

The football stadium, which is a crucial part of the grandiose PA Sangma Sports Complex project, is one of the biggest football stadiums in the nation and was built utilising cutting-edge pre-fabricated technology. The 9500-seat stadium features freshly built North, South, and East Stands, as well as cutting-edge amenities for athletes and spectators.

The concept also calls for the construction of two indoor halls with a combined outstanding area of 10,544 square metres. While the second hall can be used for several sports like badminton, table tennis, and basketball, the first hall has swimming, squash, and a gymnasium.

The district administration got to work right away after the event. According to a status report issued by the district administration on Thursday evening, no one has been injured, no homes have been damaged, and just one vehicle has been reported to have minor damage. After the electric poles were fixed, the neighbourhood had access to electricity once more.

To guarantee that the project is finished on time, the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs is actively involved with all stakeholders. Their main priority is to provide Tura's residents and young people with this outstanding infrastructure that will meet their requirements and goals in the sporting arena.
