Meghalaya Ranks 2nd in Food Safety Index in India

Meghalaya has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).  

Expressing happiness on the achievement Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma tweeted:

The 'Meghalaya Food Security Rules-2018' has following rules like the Identification of eligible beneficiaries or households;Eligibility criteria for Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) inclusion (Rural) and (Urban); Exclusion Parameters for priority households in urban areas and rural areas; Grievance Redressal Officers (GRO) and Assistant Grievance Redressal Officers (AGRO); Internal Grievance Redressal System; Duties of Nodal Officer for implementation of the Public Distribution System; Appearing before GRO; Timely disposal of Complaint; vigilance Committee and (State Level) (District Level) (Block Level) (Fair Shop Level) vigilance Committee; Report; Social Audit; Keeping Rules and Guidelines document in Public Domain; Payment of Food Security Allowance: Surrender of entitlements; Claims and Objections exercise; Foodgrain distribution timeline for FPS Dealers and Public: Beneficiary transfer from one place to another etc, Lost of Ration Card; Unclaimed and Surrendered Ration Card; Duplicate and Blank Ration card.

Secretary Food and Civil Supplies, Pravin Bakshi in 2020 informed that 10, 000 quintals of rice reaches Guwahati under the Open Market Sale Scheme of the Food Corporation of India (FCI) which is meant for Meghalaya.
