Meghalaya registers 59 new COVID patients; active cases 1,179

Meghalaya recorded 59 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total active cases to 1,179 on Monday

SHILLONG: Meghalaya recorded 59 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total active cases to 1,179 on Monday.

Of the new cases, while East Khasi Hills recorded the most with 55 (armed forces/paramilitary forces: nine, civilians: 46); Ri-Bhoi registered the remaining four cases (Two each from among civilians and the armed as well as paramilitary forces).

The district-wise break up of the cases uptil now are: East Khasi Hills - 769; West Garo Hills - 223; Ri-Bhoi: 98; West Khasi Hills: 43; North Garo Hills: 12; South Garo Hills: 12; East Jaintia Hils: 12; East Garo Hills: three; two each from South West Garo Hills and West Jaintia Hills; and South West Khasi: one.

Meghalaya also recorded 13 new recoveries on Monday. Of these, while West Khasi Hills and West Jaintia Hills registered one each, there were two recoveries in East Jaintia Hills and nine in East Khasi Hills. The total recoveries recorded so far are 789.

The samples sent for testing so far are 75,239. Of these, while 72,824 samples tested negative, reports of 439 samples are being awaited.

The number of people who has entered Meghalaya till Monday afternoon are 30,470.
