Meghalaya registers 686 new COVID cases

Meghalaya continues to see a surge in COVID-19 cases registering 12 fatalities and 686 new infections on Saturday.

SHILLONG: Meghalaya continues to see a surge in COVID-19 cases registering 12 fatalities and 686 new infections on Saturday. The State also registered 499 new recovered cases.

Of the 12 deaths, East Khasi Hills district recorded nine, Ri-Bhoi district two and West Khasi Hills district one.

Of the 686 new cases, East Khasi Hils district recorded 219, West Khasi Hills district 187, West Garo Hills district 83, West Jaintia Hills district 59, Ri-Bhoi district 53, South West Khasi Hills district 31, East Jaintia Hills district 20, South Garo Hills district 12, South West Garo Hills district nine, North Garo Hills district seven and East Garo Hills district six.

The district-wise break-up of the 5,966 active cases is - East Khasi Hills district 2246, West Garo Hills district 854, West Jaintia Hills district 693, Ri-Bhoi district 674, West Khasi Hills district 642, South West Khasi Hills district 304, East Jaintia Hills district 190, North Garo Hills district 119, East Garo Hills district 91, South Garo Hills district 88 and South West Garo Hills district 65.

With the latest figures, the State has registered 1,085 deaths, 5,966 active cases and 57,949 recoveries to date.
