Of these, while six are from East Khasi Hills (five are BSF troopers and a person who had attended a wedding reception at Greenwood Resort in Guwahati recently); one each is from Tura (West Garo Hills) and Ri-Bhoi district.

The Minister further said that of the 41 persons present at the wedding reception, sample-testing results of 38 were negative. On the other hand, the Tura patient — who is a woman — tested positive on her arrival from Guwahati. She is admitted at the isolation ward of Corona Care Centre in Tura.

The breakup of active cases district-wise is as follows: East Khasi Hills — 18 (17 BSF and the attendee of wedding in Guwahati); Ri Bhoi —12 (seven males and five females); South West Garo Hills (two males); East Jaintia Hills (one male); and West Garo Hills — three cases (two males and one female).

Dr. Warr further informed that since the cases in the BSF is on the surge, the government has urged the authorities there to conduct testing of the personnel. He also pointed out that around 135 BSF troopers are living in rented accommodations outside the camp in Shillong.
