Meghalaya registers more COVID recoveries than cases

SHILLONG: For the second consecutive day, the number of persons who recovered from COVID-19 outnumbered the new infections in Meghalaya. The number of recovered cases registered on Sunday was 248 and the new infections were 104, informed Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War.

With this, the total number of recovered cases has gone up to 6,282, while the active ones is now 2,151. Meghalaya has also recorded 75 deaths so far.

Of the 248 recovered cases, East Khasi Hills has 191 (Armed/paramilitary forces: four; civilians: 187); Ri-Bhoi: 18; South West Garo Hills: 13 (Armed/paramilitary forces: one; civilians: 12); South Garo Hills: seven; South West Khasi Hills: six; West Garo Hills: four; West Jaintia Hills: four; East Garo Hills: three; and North Garo Hills: two. The district wise breakup of the new cases are - East Khasi Hills: 61; East Garo Hills: 18; West Garo Hills: 13, Ri-Bhoi: eight; South West Garo Hills: two; East Jaintia Hills: one; and North Garo Hills: one.

The breakup of the new cases (category-wise and cluster-wise are): East Khasi Hills — High risk contacts: 46 Jail Road cluster seven, Rynjah cluster four, Golf Links cluster two, Madanryting cluster one and Mawprem cluster one.

East Garo Hills — high risk contacts: 18, health worker one and police personnel one. West Garo Hills — high risk cases: eight, screening purposes four and returnee one. Ri-Bhoi district high — high risk cases: seven and returnee one. South West Garo Hills — Mahendraganj cluster two. East Jaintia Hills — high risk contact one; and North Garo Hills — high risk contact one.
