SHILLONG: Meghalaya, on Sunday, recorded 16 fresh COVID-19 cases taking the number of active ones to 102 even as two persons from Ri-Bhoi recovered from the virus taking the total of recovered persons to 13,870.
Director of Health Services (MI), Dr. Aman War informed that of the 16 fresh cases, East Khasi Hills district recorded 11; of which, four were from the armed/paramilitary forces and seven from among civilians. Ri-Bhoi district recorded three new cases while West Garo Hills registered two from among the personnel of the armed/paramilitary forces.
The district-wise breakup of the active cases are: East Khasi Hills: 69 (civilians 59; armed/paramilitary forces: 10); West Garo Hills: 25 (civilians: 23; armed/paramilitary forces: two); Ri-Bhoi: seven; and West Khasi Hills district: one.
The total number of persons tested till Sunday afternoon is 4,08,884 out of which 3,94,762 samples tested negative and 14122 are confirmed cases.
Dr. War informed that of the 22,483 Healthcare workers vaccinated till Sunday afternoon, a total of 15,183 received their second dose of vaccine.
He also informed that the vaccination achievement for frontline workers till date is 32,926 (first dose); and of which, 18,557 received their second dose.
The vaccination achievement for general public based on the eligible age group till Sunday afternoon is 32,022 (first dose) of which 903 received their second dose.
