Shillong: According to the update provided by Meghalaya Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Saturday, 1,169 samples have been sent for testing out of which 1,097 have tested negative. There are 180 samples that are awaiting results.
Stating that Meghalaya is heading towards a healthy life after the government took all the pre-emptive steps to check the spread of the virus, Tynsong also elaborated on the steps undertaken in Shillong by the government. “The Deputy Commissioner of East Khasi Hills district has formed a 48-member committee to reach out to all the villages of the district, especially those declared as red zone”, stated Tynsong. The team will comprise of doctors, para medics, asha workers, teachers and headmen who will aid in sensitisation of the public and in monitoring those under home quarantine. There are around 5,878 who are in self-quarantine after being secondary contacts.
On those professionals and students who are stranded in the different States, Tynsong said that the government is working out on the modalities to bring them back even as he added that the Rs 3,000 has been transferred to their respective accounts.
