Meghalaya: TMC Candidate Releases Own Policy Statement

SHILLONG: As election day draws closer, the candidates are gearing up to attract the voters in their own unique ways. The Trinamool Congress Candidate for the North Shillong constituency has released a policy statement regarding the upcoming election.

Elgiva Gwyneth Rynjah the TMC candidate for the North Shillong constituency released a document to showcase her vision towards the development of the constituency. This is the first time that an election candidate for Meghalaya has released his or her own policy statement ahead of the state polls.

The following are the key points of the policy statement released by the political candidate ahead of the elections.

  • A skill enhancement training centre is to be established with the aim to expand youth employment opportunities
  • A women's hostel and a medical shop are to be set up in the constituency to provide all medicines with a 20% subsidy
  • Safe transportation towards increased participation of women labour force
  • To Facilitate monthly markets where women-led self-help groups can showcase and sell their products.
  • Anganwadi Centers to be established in North Shillong for the well-being of the children.
  • Out-of-school children to be returning to their schools.
  • Free coaching for competitive examinations in the constituency.
  • Construction of a multipurpose parking bay for the support of citizens
  • Installation of street lights and CCTV cameras
  • Construction of community halls

Apart from the promises made above the candidate has also promised interest-free loans of upto Rs 2 lakhs towards the setting up of tourist-related infrastructure in the region by the local communities. She also mentioned the planned launch of "Cleaning Our Environment and Nature" towards combating pollution on the Wahumkhrah river.

Speaking about the document, Elgiva Gwyneth Rynjah mentioned that this document is an agreement and was being prepared after a discussion with the voters of the North Shillong Constituency.
