A CORRRESPONDENT
SHILLONG: Clarifying to the accusation levelled by the Opposition Congress in Meghalaya that the conditions in the tendering process for the smart-metering project have been allegedly made in such a way to ensure only one bidder of their choice qualifies.that the tendering process favoured only one bidder, State Power Minister James K Sangma said that only one bidder qualified as per the technical criteria, despite the six-month tendering process.
The CCORMAU (the Coordination Committee of Registered MeECL (Employee) Associations and Unions (CCORMAU) in its recent general meeting resolved that the management should immediately terminate the MoU in accordance with the exit clause provided therein since the MoU signed by MePDCL with the Byrnihat Industries Association for special tariff is detrimental to the financial health of the organisation, it stated.
The organization further resolved that the management should immediately stop availing of unnecessary additional loans and unwanted components. However, the CCORMAU wants that the government should take immediate measures to arrange for loan as per provisions of the Electricity Act, 2003 to resolve the issue of terminal benefits, including actuarial valuation within three months.
