Narendra Modi Scheduled to Visit Meghalaya Ahead of Assembly Polls

SHILLONG: The Meghalaya unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has mentioned that the Prime Minister of the country will be visiting the state on February 24 just before the voting process for the Northeastern state.

The state of Meghalaya is scheduled to go to the polls on February 27 along with the state of Nagaland and the counting is scheduled for March 2.

The prime minister will hold a roadshow in the state of Nagaland to attract more voters from the state towards voting for the Bharatiya Janata Party along with the rally in Meghalaya. This will be the first visit of the Indian Prime Minister to the hill state of Meghalaya ahead of the upcoming elections and is expected to gather huge crowds.

Development is one of the core agendas that the party has presented ahead of the upcoming assembly polls and multiple top leaders of the Bharatiya Party campaigns have asked the public to vote for the party if they want to end the corruption in the state.

The election manifesto of the Bharatiya Janata Party was released by the president of the party, Jagat Prakash Nadda on Wednesday. While addressing an election rally ahead of the release of the document, the president had iterated about his party’s objective to make the state corruption free if they come to power.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also addressed a gathering in the state on Thursday. He called Meghalaya the most corrupt state and that BJP can bring around change and development in the state. He also mentioned the developmental projects under the PM-DevINE scheme of the central government while blaming the state government for inadequacy in the implementation of the central schemes in the state.

The Meghalaya government has been titled “eMpowered Meghalaya” and Jagat Prakash Nadda had mentioned that the M signifies "Modi for Meghalaya" and the state will develop under the Bharatiya Janata Party.
