Jaintia Hills: The Jaintia Students' Movement (JSM) Central Body has given a 14-day timeline to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to repair the damaged roads in the Jaintia Hills region under National Highway-6. If NHAI fails to do so, JSM said that they will stop the collection of tolls in the tolls plazas: Lumshnong Toll Plaza, East Jaintia Hills District, and 7th Mile Toll Plaza, West Jaintia Hills District.

It was informed by JSM Central Body in a letter submitted to the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia Hills District E Kharmalki. In the letter, various problems faced by people due to the poor road condition was highlighted. It also mentioned the non-functioning of all the intersecting street lights along the National Highway – 6 of East Jaintia Hills District.

The increasing number of potholes are posing a serious threat and also adding up to the inconvenience of people traveling through that road. JSM Body also urged the NHAI to repair the street lights along the NH-6 at the earliest.
