Nongkrem MLA Lambor Malngiang lays foundation stone for the construction of 2 km road

SHILLONG: Nongkrem MLA and Chairman of the Meghalaya State Planning Board Lambor Malngiang, in the presence of the BP Marak, Chief Engineer (NH), PWD (Roads), laid the foundation stone for the construction of the 2 km internal road at Urmasi-U-Joh village, Smit, on Monday.

Funded under RIDF-XXV for the year 2019-2020, an amount of Rs 2 crore has been sanctioned for the first phase of the project which will include construction, metalling and black topping of 1.5 km of the road, including four link roads.

Speaking on the occasion, Malngiang informed that the internal road at Urmasi-U-Joh has been laying in a dilapidated condition for over 20 years. Thus the laying of the foundation stone has given hope that a long cherished aspiration of the people of the area will soon be realised. Giving his assurance that the objectives of the project will be achieved, he was hopeful that the road once completed, will greatly benefit the people of the area.

Marak while informing that the formalities for issuing of tenders are in progress and near completion, also sought the cooperation of all stakeholders, particularly the people of the village for the smooth execution of the project.

The programmes were also attended by the officers of the PWD department, the Syiem of Hima Khyrim, the Rangbah Shnong and members of the Dorbar Shnong, Seng Khynthei and Seng Samla.
