SHILLONG: The State Home department on Sunday said that only one police official, who was posted at Khliehriat in East Jaintia Hills, has been tested positive for COVID-19 so far. Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) GK Iangrai, also clarified in a statement that none of the police officials in West Garo Hills District have tested positive for COVID-19 as alleged in a section of the media.
"The police official at Khliehriat was directed to undergo medical screening as per protocol after he returned from his home district in West Garo Hills. Both the RTK and the RT PCR tests were conducted; and the test results confirmed that he is COVID positive. The official is currently under medical observation," the AIGP said.
He further informed that the department has already issued directions to all districts and units to strictly adhere to the protocols and guidelines which have been issued from time to time.
