SHILLONG: The President of People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs, Banteidor Lyngdoh has said that the party will remain to have a strong stand in opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and demand for the implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) in Meghalaya.
“We will continue to oppose CAA and demand ILP. Also the party had faced many difficulties and obstacles, however there are some issues which we have achieved and some which we will have to ensure are achieved in 2020,” Lyngdoh said.
He said as a party their stand is to defend the interest of the people of the State and urged the people to extend their support to the PDF in 2020.
Meanwhile, PDF working president and Urban Affairs Minister Hamletson Dohling said, “The presence our PDF MLAs in the State Government has not gone to waste as there are many decisions we have made and discussed which at this point we don’t want to reveal and everything is for the interest of the indigenous people of the state.”
He said that discussion was also held to implement ILP in Meghalaya after the CAB has become an Act now. “We are hopeful that the central government will agree to what the party and the people of the state want and that is for implementation of ILP,” he said.
