Police Identify Suspects Behind Shillong Bomb Blast: Meghalaya Home Minister

Shillong: Meghalaya Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has said that suspects behind the bomb blast in Shillong's Police Bazar on Sunday have been identified by the police.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, the minister said, ''Today around 6.30 pm an IED blast was triggered at Police Bazar. Suspects have been identified and investigation is on & I am sure that the Police will be able to nab all the people involved. Strongly condemn this act & assured that peace will be maintained at all cost''.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has termed the bomb blast at the Police Bazar area as a cowardly act.

''Strongly condemn the blast at Police Bazar, Shillong this evening. An attempt to disrupt peace and bring harm is nothing but a cowardly act. Perpetrators will not be spared. We will ensure peace prevails in the State,'' he tweeted on Sunday.

The bomb blast took place at around 6.30 PM at Police Bazar near Delhi Misthan Bhandar.

According to police, the explosion did not cause any harm to life as the said area was under lockdown on Sunday.
