SHILLONG: The Meghalaya BJP, on Thursday, slammed the NPP-led government despite the fact that it is in alliance with NPP. The BJP has questioned the Conrad Sangma-led government for its alledged failure to release the salaries of the SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) teachers since the lockdown.

A release issued by BJP spokesperson Bernard N Marak stated, "The Centre released the SSA teacher's salaries but the State government is delaying it."

The Meghalaya BJP demanded the State Government must release the pending salaries of the SSA teachers and all other employees of the State who have been deprived of their dues during the 'Lockdown'. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared that no one should face any difficulty or be deprived of the facilities provided by the Centre. But in Meghalaya, the Central schemes were not implemented properly — which BJP cannot ignore. The State governemnt continues to be reluctant to follow Central's directives," stated the BJP leader.

Taking up the cause of the SSA teachers, Marak adding, "It is the responsibility of the State government to immediately clear the dues of the teachers as the money has been already released from the Centre.

The BJP wants the authorities concerned to look into the matter without delay, failing which we will have to inform the PM Office. The BJP also stated that Centrally sanctioned funds should not be diverted. Therefore, the BJP expects the State Government to release the dues of the teachers without further delay", added the release.
