SHILLONG: The Republican Party of India (A) on Tuesday constituted a new unit in Meghalaya.
The national party has also appointed former MDC of KHADC James Sylliang as its State president.
It may be mentioned that the national president of the party is MP and Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Ramdas Athawale.
Speaking to reporters, Sylliang informed that the party wanted to expand it’s reach in Northeast and hence the party along with the national general secretary Mohanlal Patil appointment him as the State president of the party.
“I have accepted this position of president of the party in Meghalaya as the party is always for the interest of the indigenous people of the State and other northeastern States,” he said.
He also informed that soon, the party will finilized the names of all the party office bearers and their names will be sent to the party head office.
“Once this is done, we will move forward in forming other units in different parts of the State of Meghalaya,” he said.
He informed that the party will also form a youth wing and womens wing in Meghalaya.
