SHILLONG: The mortal remains of the Archbishop of Shillong Diocese, Rev Dominic Jala will take some more days to each Shillong.
Archdiocese diocesan administrator Father John Madur, said the date of arrival of Rev Jala’s mortal remains is still unclear as the autopsy and other formalities in California were yet to be carried out.
However, it is expected that the body would arrive either on Thursday or Friday.
As per his wish, the mortal remains of the Archbishop will he laid to rest in the compound of the cathedral and not inside. As per convention, deceased bishops are laid to rest inside cathedrals.
Inside the cathedral here, Archbishops Hubert D’Rosario and T Resto Phanrang – were laid to rest. Rev Jala was well-versed in Latin, Italian, German, French, Spanish, Garo, Hindi, besides Greek, Hebrew and English languages.
Meanwhile, concelebrated requiem Mass in Cathedral of Mary Help of Christians, Laitumkhrah began since 5:30 pm on Saturday and will continue till the mortal remains arrive in Shillong from the United States of America.
