New Delhi: The DoNER Ministry has spent 57.60 per cent of the total amount sanctioned for different national projects in the northeastern States for the year 2019-20.
“The budgetary allocation (Budget Estimates) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) for the year 2019-20 is Rs 3,000 crore. Against this, as on November 21, an amount of Rs 1,728.04 crore has been spent,” said DoNER Minister Dr Jitendra Singh in written reply in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday.
He said that out of the total 657 sanctioned projects, 652 have already been completed.
“The Ministry has an online e-portal cum project management system for submission, monitoring and follow up of projects, which keeps track on financial, physical and visual progress for timely completion of projects,” Dr Singh said.
He said that the ministry has also appointed chief nodal officers of the rank of joint secretary and nodal officers of the rank of director for each state of North Eastern Region to liaise with state officials and expedite the progress of the projects.
“There is constant review of the progress of utilization of funds with the State Governments at all levels including visits by the senior officials to the states and the Ministry remains in constant touch with the officials concerned of the State Governments through video conferencing and other IT tools,” the minister said.
