School teachers stage protest in Shillong

Agitated over non-payment of their salaries for the past three months by the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government, 10 office-bearers of the Meghalaya Sarba Siksha Abhiyan School Association (MSSASA) staged an hour-long black flag sit-in demonstration at Khyndailad, Shillong from 12 pm of Friday to decry the Golden Celebration of Meghalaya Statehood Day.

SHILLONG: Agitated over non-payment of their salaries for the past three months by the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) Government, 10 office-bearers of the Meghalaya Sarba Siksha Abhiyan School Association (MSSASA) staged an hour-long black flag sit-in demonstration at Khyndailad, Shillong from 12 pm of Friday to decry the Golden Celebration of Meghalaya Statehood Day.

The MSSASA office-bearers are protesting on behalf of the 12,541 SSA teachers, due to COVID-19 protocol.

The protest was followed by a candlelight vigil from 5.00 pm to 5:30 pm in the evening at Khyndailad, Shillong

The 10 office bearers were led by Aristotle C Rymbai, president of MSSASA's central body.
