According to a formal announcement, the restriction's imposition is intended to quell unrest, safeguard daily commuters, and guarantee public safety in the city as a whole.

The order will take effect on July 12, 2023.

The following steps have been made to maintain tranquility and peace inside the city:

1. Businesses and establishments in and around Shillong city are permitted to stay open until 10:00 p.m.

2. It is completely forbidden to consume alcohol or engage in any illegal activity inside of a vehicle.

3. It is forbidden to play loud music close to hospitals, educational institutions, places of worship, and residential areas, especially after 10:00 pm.

It is crucial to keep in mind that any infraction of these guidelines will be prosecuted under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. Those who breach the limitations may have negative consequences.

These preventative measures have been put in place to guarantee both public safety and ongoing peace in Shillong.

The district magistrate wants to prevent future law and order problems and preserve a friendly environment for city residents and visitors by implementing these limits.

On the other hand, in a significant move, the police have detained five people in connection with the recent assault that left Laitumkrah in a state of pandemonium and arson.

Sylvester Nongtynger, the Superintendent of Police (SP) for the East Khasi Hills, announced the arrests and emphasised the development of the case. The lower court ordered the accused to police custody for a term of five days on Saturday.

The early morning assault event on June 7 caused a great deal of tension and led to the destruction of property at the Laitumkrah police station.
