SHILLONG: The BSF (Border Security Force) and the BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) while guarding the International border are also setting up an unprecedented example of deep friendship between them and acting as an ambassador of their respective countries.

While on western border, the BSF faces an adversary in Pakistani Army and Pak Rangers, on Eastern Border, the BSF and the BGB are proving to be strong allies in fighting smuggling and other trans-border crimes. The trust, understanding and coordination between both the border guarding forces is unparalleled and touching new heights.

In the present scenario of COVID-19 and floods in the border areas, both the forces are tackling smuggling and other trans-border crimes with excellent coordination and trust among them.

There is a smooth exchange of information between the forces upon which prompt action is being taken. Both the forces are carrying out simultaneous coordinated patrols on sensitive patches to curb the smuggling and to create a sense of security among the border population, stated a release.

UK Nayal, DIG PRO of BSF Meghalaya Frontier said that "India and Bangladesh share a common history and a very strong relationship, the same is reflected on the border guarding forces of both the countries also. The BSF remains in constant touch with BGB; and they share information regarding smuggling and other criminal activities with each other on a regular basis."

He added that "a coordinated and synergized effort towards the management of the border is the need of the hour; and both the forces are committed towards maintaining peace and tranquility in the bordering areas", the release added.
