UMIAM: The Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar visited the ICAR, Research Complex for NEH Region at Umiam, Meghalaya on Monday.
The Director of the Institute, Dr V K Mishra, along with all the employees of the institute, welcomed the Union Minister. He planted saplings in the institute premises along with Dr Anupam Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Central Agriculture University, Imphal. Banteidor Lyngdoh, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare ,Government of Meghalaya, was also present on the occasion and planted saplings.
While addressing the gathering, Narendra Singh Tomar said that the temporary employees had recently been made permanent because of the efforts put in by the Government of India. He urged the scientific community and the staff of the institute to work hard and put in efforts to take the institute to new heights, stated a press release.
