USTM, Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque paid tributes to Late Dr Donkupar Roy

The USTM (University of Science & Technology) Meghalaya and the ERDF family along with Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque paid floral tributes to Meghalaya Assembly

RI BHOI: The USTM (University of Science & Technology) Meghalaya and the ERDF family along with Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque paid floral tributes to Meghalaya Assembly Speaker and 10th Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Late Dr Donkupar Roy on his second 'Death Anniversary' on Wednesday.

Mahbubul Hoque, the Founder Chancellor of USTM, expressed his feelings with a heavy heart and fondly recalled the contributions of Dr Donkupar Roy and his continuous mentorship in the initial stages of the institution. Hoque added that ''it was during Hoque's tenure as Chief Minister in 2008 that the 'USTM Act' was passed by the Meghalaya Assembly. Since then, Dr Donkupar Roy Sir had been a constant guiding force, inspiration and support in all the major efforts of USTM and he always remain like a member of the USTM family. USTM will always be indebted to Dr Roy for his leadership behind the birth of the University.

Here it is worth mentioned that students of the University formed a human chain on both sides of the GS Road to offer their their last respects and pay tributes to this great personality as the vehicle carrying his heavenly body moved towards Shillong, way back in the year 2019.

Showing the highest respect to this great soul, USTM authority decided to dedicate one academic block of the University in his name; and as a result, the Meghalaya Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui had laid the foundation stone of the Dr Donkupar Roy Block at USTM, stated a release.
