Guwahati: The Health officials of Mizoram on Tuesday informed that 22 Assam Rifles have tested positive for the dreaded COVID-19.
A statement issued by the State Information and Public Relations Department said that 22 Assam Rifles personnel that were posted at Zokhawsanga near Aizawl, and a civilian who has a recent travel history to Nepal, have tested positive for COVID-19 at the Zoram Medical College (ZMC) on Monday night.
The officials informed that the addition of these cases has taken Mizoram's tally of COVID-19 positive patients to 384. Presently, there are 191 active cases; 193 patients have already recovered. The recovery rate of the state is 50.26 percent and 20,053 samples have been tested to date.
The capital district of Aizawl has the highest number of COVID-19 positive cases at 205 and is followed by Luglei, having 71 cases. The districts Hnahthial, Saitual, and Khawzawl districts are coronavirus-free.
India recorded a single-day spike of 47,704 positive cases and 654 deaths in the last 24 hours. Total Covid-19 positive cases stand at 14,83,157. Meanwhile, the recovery rate among patients has increased to 64.23%, according to the data by the government of India.
