Assam Rifles conducts awareness drives in Mizoram

The Serchhip Battalion of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), organized an awareness campaign at Zokhawthar in Mizoram on the occasion of National Girl Child Day on Monday.

AIZAWL: The Serchhip Battalion of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), organized an awareness campaign at Zokhawthar in Mizoram on the occasion of National Girl Child Day on Monday.

The aim of the programme was to spread awareness about rights of the girl child, specially their education, health and nutrition.

The local populace was also informed about importance of girls in the society and the need to provide them with better education and amenities for their development. It was discussed that several schemes have been introduced by the Government to improve the condition of girls, such as Save the Girl Child, Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao, free and subsidised education for girls in education institutions.

The campaign on National Girl Child Day received an overwhelming response from the local populace.

Earlier, the Lunglei Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), conducted an Anti-Malaria Awareness lecture by Company Operating Base (COB) Saiha at Niawhtlang village of Mizoram on Saturday, stated another press release.

The lecture was attended by 22 civilians. The aim of lecture was to spread awareness amongst the local populace about anti-malaria preventive measures and its treatment. The civil population appreciated the efforts made by the Assam Rifles for spreading awareness about the mosquito-borne disease.
