Assam Rifles continues awareness drive in Mizoram

AIZAWL: In continuance with its efforts of winning hearts and mind of the locals, Serchhip Battalion of Headquarter23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), conducted a motivational lecture at Sangau-III village, Mizoram on Thursday to inspire local youths to join the Armed Forces and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), stated a press release.

The aim of the guidance session and lecture was to educate and motivate the locals to encourage their youth to focus on their preparation to join the security forces. During the session, local were taught about basic guidance on career option and types of entry in (CAPFs).

Earlier, Serchhip Battalion organised a cleanliness drive and awareness programmes at Champhai village earlier this week to promote the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. During the event, special emphasis was put to clean the area surrounding the village and spread awareness among the locals about personal and public hygiene. The locals of Champhai expressed their gratitude for the initiative taken by the Assam Rifles, the press release said.

According to another press release, Lunglei Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), also conducted a lecture on STD and AIDS Awareness at Company Operating Base (COB), Lugnpuk on Wednsday. A total of 30 locals attended the lecture.

The lecture made the local people aware of various methods for prevention of Sexually Transmitted Diseases. The locals discussed various taboos and stigmas attached with the diseases and were educated about how to lead a healthy life with the diseases. The locals of Lungpuk village were very happy and expressed their gratitude for the initiative taken by Assam Rifles, the press release added.
