Assam Rifles organized COVID awareness drive at two Mizoram villages

AIZAWL: In view of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Serchhip Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of 23 Sector Assam Rifles/Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East) organized a COVID-Awareness Drive at the 'Young Mizo Association Hall' in Zokhawthar Village on November 9. The Lunglei Battalion of Assam Rifles also organized a similar drive at Saiha Village.

The aim of both the drives was to create awareness in the local population about the prevailing COVID-19 situation. The awareness drive was conducted by the Zokhawthar Company in which they educated the villagers about COVID-19 protocols such as maintaining social distancing, washing of hands, wearing masks properly, need to avoid social gatherings and the need to stay at home was stressed upon. The drive was mainly focused upon the precautionary measures and the DO's & DONT's during the COVID-19 pandemic to avoid any loss of life due to the infection.

The event at Zokhawthar was attended by 25 villagers including the Village Chief and Village Council Members. The awareness drive at Saiha village was attended by 15 villagers. The villagers assured their support in the fight against COVID-19, stated a release.
