Assam Rifles promotes Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Mizoram

The Serchhip Battalion of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), carried out a cleanliness drive and awareness programmes at Sangau, Khawbung and Farkawn villages of Mizoram on Monday to promote the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’, stated a press release.

AIZAWL: The Serchhip Battalion of Headquarters 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), carried out a cleanliness drive and awareness programmes at Sangau, Khawbung and Farkawn villages of Mizoram on Monday to promote the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', stated a press release.

During the event, special emphasis was put to clean the area surrounding the village and spread awareness among the locals about personal and public hygiene. The villagers expressed their gratitude for the initiative taken by the Assam Rifles. Meanwhile, the Lunglei Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), also organized a Cleanliness Drive under 'Swachha Bharat Abhiyan' at Hmangbuchhaua village on Sunday. Local villagers participated in the cleanliness drive.

In another initiative, the Aizawl Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), distributed essential commodities to orphanage at Zokhawsang, New Vaikhwatlang and Hnahlan villages on Monday.

A total of 88 villagers benefited during the programme.
