AIZWAL: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 122 gram of Heroin Grade No IV in General Area Zote in Mizoram on January 18, stated a release.

The operation was carried out by a team of Assam Rifles and Excise & Narcotics Department, Champhai district based on specific information. An individual was intercepted and checked on the spot by lady constable, 10 hongs of Heroine No 4 in 10 soap cases were found in her possession. The lady has been identified as a resident of Bukphir in Myanmar. Approximate cost of the recovered heroin is Rs 48,00,000. As the Excise& Narcotics Department, Champhai seized the contraband item, they also detained the individual, the release added.
