Assam Rifles recovers heroin worth Rs 19 lakh in Mizoram

In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities

AIZAW: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), recovered 38 grams of heroin No 4 in three soap cases worth Rs 19,00,000 in General Area Zokhawthar-Melbuk Road on July 15.

The operation was carried out by a combined team of Assam Rifles and police based on specific information.

The approximate cost of the recovered heroin No 4 is Rs 19,00,000.

The seized items and individuals were handed over to Zokhawthar police for further legal proceedings.

The ongoing smuggling of heroin No 4 is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram, especially along the India-Myanmar Border. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the 'Sentinels of Northeast' have continued their efforts against the smuggling activities in Mizoram, a press release said.
