Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Tree plantation drive conducted in Mizoram

 MIZORAM: Aizawl Battalion of Mizoram Range, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), conducted a Tree Plantation Drive’ as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) at Zokhawsang Company Operating Base on Saturday. A total of 105 saplings were planted. The event was organised in the presence of Lalnun Sanga Khawkhing, IFS, District Forest Officer of Aizawl, along with a Range Officer, a Deputy Range Officer, and four Staff members of the Forest Department. The aim of the Plantation Drive was to increase the green cover in the area near the company's Operating Base and village. The soldiers of the Assam Rifles worked with the locals to identify suitable areas for planting saplings. The villagers were encouraged to participate in the plantation drive, and they were given information about the importance of trees and their role in maintaining ecological balance, stated a press release.
