Guwahati: The old adage of "one good turn" begets another was proved true recently when a group of stranded Mizos returning to their native land by train were gifted with packages of food materials by Bihar citizens in Begusarai district, merely days after they had lobbed food at flood-affected people who were taking shelter beside the rail tracks.
Mizoram CM Zoramthanga took to Twitter the salute the Bihar citizens for the act of generosity. "Few days after stranded Mizos offers their food to flood-affected victims on their way back, a brief halt of their Shramik Special Train at Begusarai, Bihar witnessed good samaritans offering them food in return!", Zoramthanga informed Twitterati. "India is beautiful when flooded with love", Zoramthanga went on to add further.
This development has come to the fore merely days after another video, identified as the same group by the CM, were seen lobbing food materials to those stricken by floods. In the video, these Mizos, on their way home on a special train from Bengaluru, were seen lobbing food packets to the flood-affected who have been taking shelter on higher ground along the railway track. This particular group of persons had constructed small makeshift dwelling arrangements by the tracks, and their children could be seen jumping with joy as soon as the Mizos started throwing food items to them.
Zoramthanga, who seems to have been actively keeping track of good tidings in these dire corona times, was quick to share the video with a heartwarming caption. "The following viral WhatsApp video is all about stranded Mizos on their way from Bangalore sharing their eatables along the railway track for flood-affected people on their way to #Mizoram and, it just made my day!", the CM wrote.
It is pertinent to mention here that Mizoram, that is fighting the Covid-19 on a war footing with the active implementation of social distancing and other precautionary measures, has not reported a single active case of the respiratory infection since its first patient, a 50-year-old pastor who had returned from the Netherlands, recovered at the Zoram Medical College in Falkawn.
