AIZAWL/GUWAHATI: Acting on specific information regarding the illegal movement of cattle on NH-06 from Katigorah area towards Meghalaya for smuggling purpose, BSF (Border Security Force) personnel carried out a special operation with troops of 1 Battalion BSF, Mizoram and Cachar Frontier on August 11, and recovered cattle from a vehicle.

During this operation, the BSF personnel seized a heavy truck (having Registration No.NL-01-AE-0348) at Hilara railway crossing at about 0615 hours. The vehicle was illegally transporting 22 buffaloes and two Indian nationals with one Maruti 800 Car also apprehended, who were connected with this illegal transportation.

The seized buffaloes along with the truck, car and apprehended person has been handed over to Katigorah Police Station for legal actions with a requisition to lodge an FIR (First Information Report).

The BSF troops of Mizoram and Cachar Frontier have seized 150 cattle heads since January 2021, stated a press release.
