Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga on Monday lashed out at the opposition Congress and asserted that the party has lost its influence in the state as well as in the centre and will fail to grab even a single seat in the 2023 assembly poll in Mizoram.

While addressing a party session at the MNF office here, Zoramthanga said that his party will be retaining power in the assembly elections scheduled in 2023.

While explaining about Mizoram Congress losing badly in the 2023 Assembly polls, the CM informed that veteran politician and Congress senior leader Sharad Pawar has also denied becoming a leader of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) which is led by Congress.

''If a kerosene oil barrel of a lantern collapses in national capital Delhi, how can its wick at Mizoram be ignited', Congress might draw blank in 2023 Assembly polls on making any mistake,'' the MNF president added.

Apart from Congress, Zoramthanga taunt the main opposition Zoram People's Movement (ZPM) stating that the party has deviated from its ideologies from the moment it was formed.

He alleged that ZPM has been changing its system and ideologies very often and now its integral ideology is to find ways to enrage and provoke the Mizoram government in power.

In praising his party and stating its contribution, the MNF president said that the party has been standing strong in all the difficult times and experienced great deprivation during the pandemic and in past.

He further said that the party has successfully and bravely tackled all challenges and distress including those more serious than COVID and it still continues to give its best therefore it would retain power in the next assembly elections.
