First Racing Track In North-East India To Be Built In Mizoram

According to sources, the Mizoram State Sports Council and Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), an organization that reports to the Ministry of Power, have signed a Memorandum of Agreement.

AIZAWL: The first of its type of motor racing facility in Northeast India will soon be accessible to Mizoram. For the purpose of constructing the REC-MSSC Motorsports Race Track and Sports Complex in Mizoram, the Mizoram State Sports Council and Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), an organization that reports to the Ministry of Power, have signed a Memorandum of Agreement.

Robert Romawia Royte, the minister of sports, Er H. Lalzirliana, the vice chairman of the road and infrastructure board, Lawmawma Tochhawng, the vice chairman of the HPC, Dr. K. Pachhunga, the vice chairman of the bamboo development board, and others paid a visit to the MSSC-REC Motorsports Racing track in Lengpui on Saturday as it was still being built. Along with members of the Lengpui VC and an NGO, they were accompanied by the Mizoram Motorsports Association.

John Tanpuia, the secretary of the MSSC, gave a report on the project during a brief event. He revealed that the project's funding comes from REC's CSR fund, which has a total of 750 lakhs. Additionally, the SASCI approved them for 800 lakhs.

The 2.17km racing track is 12 meters wide. It is now being prepared in accordance with international standards. At the event, J. Lalhmingliana and their family were thanked for donating the land known as the Joseph Zosangliana Complex by Sports Minister Robert Romawia Royte.

It will be very appreciated if the project receives the proper attention from the concerned department authorities and contractors, he said. Speaking at the event, the constituency MLA Er H. Lalzirliana expressed his happiness at the significant growth taking place in his area and expressed the hope that everyone involved will put in their best efforts.
