AIZAWL: Assam Rifles, under Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), conducted three different operations on Tuesday. The operations were carried out by combined teams of Assam Rifles, Customs Preventive Force, Excise and Narcotics Department Champhai, and Special Narcotics Police Station CID (Crime) based on specific information. During the operation, 247 cases of foreign-origin cigarettes were recovered, which were hidden off-track in Gen Area Zotlang. In another operation, 212.08 g of heroin no. 4 were recovered, along with two apprehensions in Gen Area Zote. In a third operation, 196 g of heroin no. 4 were recovered from Gen Area Chanmari Aizawl, and three individuals were arrested. The entire consignment of foreign-origin cigarettes and heroin no. 4 worth Rs 5,67,55,600 and five apprehended individuals have been handed over to the Customs Preventive Force and Excise and Narcotics Department for further legal proceedings, stated a press release.
