AIZAWL: Three (Naga Hills) Battalion of Headquarter 23 Sector, Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarter Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) conducted an NGOs conclave at Lunglei.
The chief guest for the conclave was the Director-General of Assam Rifles Lieutenant General P C Nair. It was attended by Major General Ranjit Singh, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), Brigadier Digvijay Singh, Commander, 23 Sector Assam Rifles, among others. The NGOs which participated in the conclave were the Young Mizo Association (YMA), Mizo Zirlai Pawl (MZP), Mizo Students' Union (MSU), and Baptist Church Orphanage (BCO).
The event commenced with tree plantation by the Director-General of Assam Rifles along with office bearers of YMA and MZP. The tree plantation drive was carried out to promote 'Green Mizoram'. The main agenda of the conclave was to highlight the tasks and the work being carried out by NGOs towards development during this COVID-19 pandemic. The DG AR appreciated all the NGOs for their excellent work and assured full support from the Assam Rifles. After the conduct of the conclave, the DG AR felicitated all the NGOs with masks and COVID protection items. The event culminated with the distribution of essential commodities like food, COVID protection items, two almirahs and one Led TV to Baptist Church Orphanage Home, Serkawn. The NGOs and BCO home expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the noble gesture by Assam Rifles.
